Grants we screen against

Every check is run against the latest eligibility rules for the four biggest UK schemes for energy-efficient home upgrades.

ECO4

Up to full cost covered

Funded insulation, heating repairs and first-time central heating for low-income and benefits households.

Great British Insulation Scheme

Lower council tax bands

Single-measure insulation (loft, cavity, room-in-roof) for lower council tax bands and low-EPC homes.

Boiler Upgrade Scheme

Open to most homeowners

£7,500 toward an air source heat pump (£7,500) or ground source (£7,500), replacing fossil fuel heating.

Home Upgrade Grant / LA Flex

Off-gas properties

Local authority funding for off-gas homes and flexible eligibility routes outside standard benefits.

Solar PV Funding

Grant-funded or private

Solar panels can be bundled with ECO4, HUG and the new Warm Homes: Local Grant for eligible low-income households. Everyone else pays 0% VAT until March 2027 and earns from exported power via the Smart Export Guarantee — we'll connect you with a vetted installer for a free quote.

FAQ

Is GrantCheck really free?+

Yes. The eligibility check and the installer survey are completely free. Grants are funded by energy suppliers (ECO4, GBIS) or government (BUS, HUG).

Will I definitely qualify?+

We screen against the published rules, but final approval is confirmed by your installer after a short home survey.

Do I have to be on benefits?+

Not for every scheme. The Boiler Upgrade Scheme is open to most homeowners, and GBIS covers lower council tax bands too.

Can I get free solar panels?+

Fully-funded solar is realistic mainly through ECO4, the Home Upgrade Grant, or the new Warm Homes: Local Grant — typically for low-income households in EPC D–G properties. Elsewhere solar is bundled as a secondary measure or paid for privately.

What if I don't qualify for a solar grant but still want panels?+

Tell us on the solar step and we'll connect you with a vetted MCS-certified installer for a free, no-obligation quote. You'll get 0% VAT until March 2027 and can earn from exported power via the Smart Export Guarantee.

Who calls me afterwards?+

A vetted MCS/TrustMark accredited installer in your area, who will arrange your free survey or solar quote.
